Lady's Traveling Step Pull Throughs
The most important step pattern for the
Lady is the Traveling Step. This pattern will not only get the Lady from
one area to another with an economy of moves, but will enable her to move
smoothly in the Classic Lindy Style of the 1950's and it also allows her
extra time for additional stylized footwork in later Lindy
Lessons. General Instructions
From the Open Position (OP), the Man will
pull the Lady into a straight path past his right side to opposite end of
slot. The LEADS start on Rock steps (5-6) On 5, starting from the Position, both partners Rock back as tension between lead hands increases and both arms are extended allowing for Back Rock Steps. On 6, Man steps on right foot, draws lady forward. Lady steps forward on left foot toward man. Triples Steps (1&2, 3&4) Lady begins Traveling Step on 1st Triple. Man raises lead hand (left) in front of and over Lady's head to allow her to do her turn under his arm and to her left. Man holds onto her hand, doing Triples in place as he turns 180 degrees to face partner at opposite end of Lindy Slot. Lady does second Triple in opposite end of the Rectangular Slot facing Man in O.P. Note: Lady should practice Traveling Step alone, without partner, until perfected.
