Throwout

Lessons number Two and Three are used more often than any other step patterns in classic Lanza Lindy. In a general description, it's the method of leading the lady into an Open Position and then bringing her back into the Promenade Position.

Lesson #2 begins by taking an Open Position, so you know where the lady will end up in the throwout.

Open Position

1. Man's left hand is hooked under Lady's right curled fingers.
2. The couple above is in the Rock Position #5.6
3. The Arms are bent at the elbow, prior to the Rock step, but are then extended to allow for Rock Steps away from each other.
4. the back heels of dancers do not touch the floor on the Back Rock steps in #5. This keeps both dancers from rocking backward too far.

Start Lesson Two in Promenade Position:
1. On the Throwout, the Man will rock in the direction that he wants to lead the Lady. Man Rocks forward on left foot #5, while Lady Rocks backwards on right foot #5.
2. On #6 the Man gently draws the Lady forward as he steps in place on his right foot on #6, while the Lady shifts her weight forward onto her left foot in place on #6.
3. The Man takes both his Triple steps, (1&2, 3&4) in place.
4. Lady takes her first Triple steps, (1&2) (small steps) to the Open Position. On the third step of her first Triple (right foot) Lady turns to face partner, and second Triple (left, right , left) is taken in place facing partner in Open Position.

LADY MUST NOT TURN BEFORE THIRD STEP.
